Site-Seeing with an Archaeologist: Native American Sites of Pinellas County
Join archaeologist Rebecca O’Sullivan from the Florida Public Archaeology Network for a “site-seeing” tour of some of Pinellas County’s most interesting Native American mound sites. In this talk, we will explore the history of Florida’s Native Peoples as well as the amazing communities they created along Florida’s Gulf Coast. After the presentation, we will hike out to the Weedon Island Site within the Preserve. Learn the stories behind these enduring places, and plan your own visit! This hike is recommended for adults and youth ages 8+. If you would like to go on the hike, please wear closed-toe shoes, a hat, and insecet repellent. It is also recommended to bring a refillable water bottle per person. Cancellations with a full refund will be accepted up to 48 hours before the program start time. Questions or Concerns? Please contact the Weedon Island Preserve Cultural and Natural History Center at firstname.lastname@example.org.
