Getting Organized for Life's Demands

G.O.L.D. (Getting Organized for Life’s Demands) is a program that provides financial life skills to youth preparing for the responsibilities of becoming independent adults. G.O.L.D. covers budgeting, prioritizing needs versus wants, tracking expenses, and becoming self-sufficient. The program covers the importance of emergency funds, long term saving strategies, and how to read salary statements (gross income vs net income, taxes, etc.). Lastly, the program drives home the importance of educational levels as a predictor of financial success and the importance of getting at least a high school diploma. Course will be taught by UF/IFAS Extension Hernando County Family Consumer Sciences Agent, Scott Taylor.  Appropriate for ages 10 to 18 years of age. Cost for each participant is $5.00. No refunds will be given. Course will be capped at 40 youth. This course is part of the UF/IFAS Extension Hernando County's STEM InvestiGATORS Youth Progam. Participants who accumulate 10 hours (5 courses) by May 31, 2020, will earn a Certificate of Completion and a 4-H specialty topic pin. Participants who complete 18 hours (all 9 courses) by May 31, 2020, will earn a second certificate and a UF bag. The Foundation for the Gator Nation. An Equal Opportunity Institution.
