Understanding LGBTQ+ Labels and Terms
Are you confused by all the acronyms being used by and about the gay and transgender communities? Are you hearing sexuality- and gender-related lingo that is totally new to you? Do you want to enhance your ability to be an ally for the LGBTQ+ community? In this introductory course, you will learn some of the most common terms used among and about the LGBTQ+ community and to describe the LGBTQ+ community. This course is designed to help health and mental health professionals speak with and clinically document about LGBTQ+ patients/clients in a way that is accurate, respectful, and affirming. Through this training, you will: Gain familiarity with terminology commonly used among and about the LGBTQ+ community. Be able to speak about the LGBTQ+ community in a way that is respectful and affirming.
